Fair Music: Transparency and the Money Flows in the New Music Era
Music Business Partner’s Conference
Presented by Rethink Music
Stage: Riviera 7
At a time when subscription services are adding users faster than ever, press reports continue to indicate dissatisfaction with royalty payments and the transparency in the money flow to creators. Berklee's Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship (BerkleeICE) is releasing the results of a year-long study about these issues, in Phase One of a multi-year attempt by its Rethink Music initiative to resolve some of them.
Where is the money really going? Can a decentralized copyright registry really solve some of the problems, and how might it be built? What role could cryptocurrencies and blockchain play in enabling payments?
