RETHINK MUSIC IS AN INITIATIVE OF THE BERKLEE INSTITUTE FOR CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, EXPLORING THE FUTURE Of MUSIC.

We are a coalition of leaders working together on events and research.

WHAT WE DO

Rethink Music is an initiative of the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship, bringing together some of the brightest minds and industry leaders to focus thought on the future of music. We seek to drive new opportunities by connecting and strengthening music clusters globally and studying not only norms and standards, but outliers and their impact on success. The project consists of both research elements and events. White papers and technology development are focused on topics evolving in music today (or which have the potential to impact the industry). Our events range in size and take place all over the world, and are designed to bring music stakeholders together to discuss new business models, societal impacts of music, copyright challenges in the digital era, and technological innovation in music, all with a focus on fostering positive change.

Rethink Music was created in 2009 when Berklee College of Music joined forces with Midem and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University for a large conference in Boston to discuss the future of music. We have since partnered with various academic institutions and organizations on our work, including Future of Music, Music Tech Fest, Sònar, IE Business School, MIT, and Harvard Law School.
